NEPSE rises by 26.49 points, turnover surges to Rs 10.79 billion



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed an upward trend on the last trading day of the week, gaining 26.49 points to close at 2,722. Earlier in the day, the index had touched an intraday high of 2,740 points at around 1:45 pm.

Alongside the rise in the index, the market also recorded a notable increase in trading volume. A total turnover of Rs 10.79 billion was registered today, significantly higher than the previous day’s Rs 7.26 billion.

Almost all sectoral indices showed positive growth, with the exception of the trade sector, which saw a marginal decline of 0.15 percent.

The investment group posted the highest gain of the day, increasing by 2.99 percent. The banking sector rose by 1.14 percent, development banks by 1.35 percent, and finance companies by 0.72 percent.

Similarly, the hydropower sector grew by 1.13 percent, life insurance by 0.84 percent, non-life insurance by 0.96 percent, and microfinance by 0.63 percent.

The hotel and tourism sector increased by 0.39 percent, manufacturing and processing by 0.05 percent, and the others group edged up by 0.37 percent.
