UML passes proposal against Monarchy revival efforts

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML Secretariat meeting has passed a special proposal stating that efforts to restore the monarchy will not succeed under any circumstances.

During the meeting held at the party’s Chyasal office on Monday, UML claimed that reactionary forces were trying to use political instability as a ladder to power but asserted that such attempts would be meaningless.

Party Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali stated that the federal democratic republic was established through a historic constitution, and the party is closely monitoring planned activities against the republic and the constitution.

Reading out the special proposal, Gyawali said, “Any attempt to push the country backward would fail, as Nepal’s republican system is the result of seven decades of sacrifices made by the people.”

He urged all not to engage in actions that could undermine the hard-earned democratic system.
