Prachanda demands PM Oli’s resignation in presence of seven opposition parties

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has called for the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Amid rising opposition criticism, Dahal made the demand during a press conference held in Kathmandu on Friday. He cited the failure of the coalition government, led by Oli since its formation on Asar 30, as the reason for his call.

“The coalition was formed with specific objectives, none of which have been achieved. Moreover, the Prime Minister’s statement to amend the constitution in 2087 has rendered the coalition meaningless,” said Prachanda. “This government has lost its moral authority. Resigning on ethical grounds would be appropriate. Let me clarify that we are not in a hurry to take over the government.”

During the press conference, seven opposition parties inside the federal parliament accused the Oli government of promoting corruption and failing to maintain balanced international relations.

The opposing parties include the CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Rastriya Janamorcha, Aam Janata Party, and Nepal Socialist Party.
