Authorities take action against five firms



KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has imposed fines of Rs 10,000 each on five firms following inspections at various locations in Kathmandu.

The inspections, carried out with the support of local authorities and consumer rights activists, targeted multiple businesses. Firms penalized include Sumesh Glass Traders Gongbu, Krishna Tile and Sanitary House, RN Traders, Universal Home Solution Pvt. Ltd., and Sirak Dasna Shop, each receiving a Rs 10,000 fine.

The Department stated that the action was taken under Sections 15 and 38(d) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS, in accordance with Section 39 of the same Act.

Additionally, 11 other firms received general instructions rather than fines. The department noted that it continues to conduct inspections nationwide on non-public holidays as part of its efforts to maintain a fair and orderly market.
