Home Minister Aryal directs agencies to address Gen-Z concerns and improve service delivery

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has instructed agencies under the ministry to work in alignment with the aspirations of the new generation and to ensure that they experience a sense of justice.

Speaking at the regular SMT meeting held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Home Secretary Rameshwar Dangal, Minister Aryal urged all employees to carry out their responsibilities with the dedication of an activist. He also directed them to remain fully focused on the upcoming election and its preparations.

He stated that the current government is an election-focused administration and emphasized the need to adopt technology to make the upcoming polls more participatory, ensuring citizens can exercise their voting rights effectively.

Minister Aryal instructed departmental heads to ensure that services delivered by their offices are effective, urging staff to pay closer attention to public concerns, reach service seekers directly, and work in a way that allows people to feel real change.

He also directed subordinate agencies to actively listen to and address complaints raised by the Gen-Z Coordination Committee and the affected individuals, adding that this would help the ministry counter any misleading or incorrect narratives circulating outside.

The minister further ordered that guidelines for relief distribution to the injured be finalized soon and that relief cards for Gen-Z injured individuals be distributed on the ground without delay.

Secretary Dangal said he is satisfied with the ministry’s overall performance, noting that more than a dozen regulations, including those related to national identity cards and the Armed Police Force, have already been amended, while the citizenship regulation is in its final stage.

He instructed officials to prioritize the ministry’s immediate reform plan, adding that the working culture at the ministry has significantly improved since the incident on September 8 and that this positive momentum must continue.

Department heads, division chiefs, and branch heads also briefed the meeting on the progress and current situation of their respective areas.
