KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leaders have emphasized the need to hold the party’s regular general convention at the earliest possible time.
At the party’s Central Working Committee meeting held on Thursday at the party office in Sanepa, spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said the leaders suggested that the party leadership should take the preparations for the 15th general convention seriously and ensure it is held without delay.
Dr. Mahat added that no specific proposals regarding the convention schedule were presented in the meeting, and decisions will be made based on members’ suggestions. The leaders also expressed the need to investigate incidents that occurred during the Gen-Z movement, take action against those found guilty, and ensure that the government focuses on election preparations.
During the meeting, leaders including Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Devendra Raj Kandel, Shiv Prasad Humagain, Rajiv Koirala, Guru Baral, and Nrip Bahadur Wad shared their views. Acting Chair Purna Bahadur Khadka briefed the meeting on recent political developments.
Spokesperson Mahat said the meeting will continue on Friday.
