UML leader from Jhapa calls for KP Oli’s resignation



KATHMANDU: Rabin Koirala, a senior leader from Jhapa, has called on CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli to step down from party leadership, urging him to take on an advisory role instead.

Speaking at the UML Central Committee meeting on Thursday, Koirala said the party needed new leadership to move forward effectively. “Comrade Chair, you should step aside and take the role of the party’s guardian. Let’s appoint a coordinator and hold the 11th General Convention under their leadership,” Koirala said during the meeting, according to a central committee member.

Koirala, who hails from Bhanundangi in Jhapa, made the remarks on the second day of the ongoing meeting. Oli, who represents Damak in the same district, has led the UML since 2014 and has indicated his intention to continue at the helm.

Koirala has previously served as UML’s Jhapa district chair for two terms.
