NHRC discusses security situation with CoAS Sigdel



KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) held discussion with Chief of Army Staffs (CoAS), Ashok Raj Sigdel, on peace and security situation of the country in the aftermath of Gen-Z protest.

The human rights body held the discussion with Nepali Army chief at the NHRC central office in Pulchow, Lalitpur on Tuesday.

In addition to the peace, security and human rights situation, the NHRC also inquired on the status of the political leaders kept in NA’s protection, according to NHRC’s Spokesperson, Dr Tikaram Pokhrel. In the discussion, the NHRC suggested the Nepali Army to work in line with the values of democracy, human rights and rule of law while evaluating the future security challenges.

The human rights body has been garnering information on the safety and health condition of those under Nepali Army’s protection in the face of Gen-Z protests.

Even the information on the status of Gen-Z representatives, families of the deceased and injured ones, and other affected persons and children is being collected and meetings held with them, spokesperson Pokharel added.
