Finance Minister holds discussion with private sector

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal met with representatives of the private sector on Tuesday.

During the meeting at the Finance Ministry, discussions focused on ensuring the security of private enterprises and creating an investment-friendly environment, according to Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Given the current challenging situation, topics discussed included guarantees of private sector security, extension of tax deadlines, provision of concessions, facilitation of insurance claims and loan disbursement through the central bank, among others,” Dhakal said. “The Finance Minister took the private sector’s concerns positively and has given instructions for immediate implementation of some measures.”

The meeting comes after incidents of arson and vandalism at various business establishments and residences of entrepreneurs during the Gen-Z protests.
