Rabi Lamichhane to be transferred to Nakkhu jail in Lalitpur

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane is set to be transferred to Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur from his current location at Rupandehi Prison.

The move comes following his formal request, with the Department of Prison Management confirming that the necessary procedures are now in motion.

The Department of Prison Management has initiated the transfer process following Lamichhane’s formal request, according to Director General Lila Prasad Sharma.

Sharma stated that the decision was made based on Lamichhane’s written application, and an official letter has been sent to Rupandehi Prison to begin the transfer.

The Rupandehi Prison administration, along with the Chief District Officer (CDO) office, will now coordinate security and logistics for the transfer.

Lamichhane, who is currently being held on remand in Rupandehi Prison, had previously applied to be moved to Nakkhu Prison.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak informed the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives on Thursday that the transfer process is currently underway.
