Foreign Minister briefed by Israeli envoy on Israel-Iran conflict

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, was briefed on the evolving situation stemming from the recent conflict between Israel and Iran by Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Shmulik Arie Bass, during a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

According to the ministry, Minister Rana inquired about the safety and status of Nepali nationals living in Israel, and urged the Israeli government—through Ambassador Bass —to ensure all necessary support and security for them amid heightened regional tensions.

In response, Ambassador Bass assured that all Nepali citizens in Israel are currently safe, reiterating Israel’s commitment to safeguarding foreign workers and residents, including the Nepali community.

The meeting comes amid increased concern over the security of thousands of Nepali citizens residing in Israel, many of whom work in agriculture and caregiving sectors. On Sunday, the Foreign Ministry had already issued a press statement confirming that Nepalis in both Israel and Iran were safe.

Minister Rana also held telephone consultations with Nepali ambassadors based in Tel Aviv and Doha on Sunday, instructing them to remain vigilant and prioritize the safety of Nepali nationals in the region.

The ministry has stated it is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East and is prepared to take appropriate action, including evacuation if necessary, to ensure the well-being of its citizens.
