Narayan Kaji Shrestha blames govt for rising public discontent

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Senior Vice-Chair Narayan Kaji Shrestha today highlighted the need to exert pressure for the swift completion of transitional justice mechanisms.

Speaking at the 13th Commemoration Program for Martyr Rit Bahadur Khadka Pratap at the Maoist party office in Paris Danda, Shrestha stated that delays in completing the remaining tasks of the peace process, due to various reasons, necessitate pushing for quick action on transitional justice.

Shrestha also asserted that the lives of the people cannot improve until widespread corruption is eradicated and good governance is established in the country. He claimed that the Maoist government had undertaken significant work in promoting good governance during its tenure, which, he alleged, led to its downfall by those seeking to protect corrupt individuals.

Furthermore, Shrestha accused the current government of being corrupt and autocratic. He warned that the government’s actions are fueling public dissatisfaction, which in turn is empowering regressive forces.

Looking ahead, Shrestha stated that the party will dedicate the next two years to a people-centric campaign focused on preparing for the upcoming elections. He expressed the party’s determination to secure a majority in the 2027 elections.
