Gwarko overpass to open in four days

KATHMANDU: Vehicles will be permitted to operate on the newly constructed overpass at Gwarko in Lalitpur in four days.

The Department of Roads is making final preparations for its opening, following the completion of the overpass’ main structure.

Deep Barahi, head of the Quality Research and Development Center, confirmed that with the primary construction now finished, the focus is on enabling vehicle operation. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to officially inaugurate the overpass on June 20.

Last Saturday, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, accompanied by leadership from the Department of Roads, conducted an on-site inspection. During the visit, instructions were issued to expedite preparations for the overpass’ opening to traffic.

With the main structural work complete, the installation of lane separators, road lining, and other necessary finishes have been finalized, paving the way for vehicles to utilize the new infrastructure.
