Birgunj Customs collects Rs 158 billion in revenue in 11 months



BIRGUNJ: The Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 158.60 billion in revenue over the first eleven months of the current fiscal year, achieving 79 percent of its annual target.

Chief Customs Administrator Deepak Lamichhane said revenue collection in the month of Jestha was particularly encouraging, boosted by optimism surrounding the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

“Among the past eleven months, the highest revenue was recorded in Jestha,” he said, adding that petroleum products and vehicle imports accounted for the largest share of the revenue.

Monthly revenue collections were as follows: Rs 12.15 billion in Shrawan, Rs 13.42 billion in Bhadra, Rs 13.47 billion in Asoj, Rs 11.10 billion in Kartik, Rs 14.40 billion in Mangshir, Rs 15.47 billion in Poush, Rs 14.44 billion in Magh, Rs 14.63 billion in Falgun, Rs 15.47 billion in Chait, Rs 15.72 billion in Baisakh, and the highest—Rs 18.18 billion—in Jestha.

The Department of Customs has set an annual revenue collection target of Rs 218.95 billion for the Birgunj Customs Office.
