High-level political mechanism meets in Baluwatar; Gagan Thapa absent amid Government criticism



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the high-level political mechanism is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

The meeting includes leaders from the ruling coalition partners, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the mechanism’s meeting began following the conclusion of task force-level discussions between the two parties.

From the Nepali Congress side, party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba are participating. On behalf of the CPN-UML, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is joined by Vice-Chair Ishwar Pokhrel, General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, and Chief Advisor Bishnu Rimal.

However, Nepali Congress General Secretary and mechanism member Gagan Thapa is not attending the meeting.

Thapa, who has been critical of the government in recent times, is in Simara to inaugurate the regional conference of Bara Constituency-3.
