Agreement between Ministry of Health and Tilganga Eye Hospital

KATHMANDU: An agreement has been reached between the Ministry of Health and Population and the Tilganga Eye Institute to enhance access of Nepali citizens to eye health services.

Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel and the Institute’s Executive Director Dr Sanduk Ruit signed the agreement during a program at the health ministry today.

As per the agreement, the Ministry shall make recommendations for customs and value-added tax concessions in accordance with the prevailing law on the import of raw materials and equipment for the production of lenses used after cataract surgery.

Accordingly, 10 percent of the lenses produced by the Nepal Eye Program will be provided free of charge through camps run by government hospitals for the treatment of citizens living in remote communities outside the reach of eye health services.
