PM inaugurates building of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has inaugurated the academic and emergency building of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences (PoAHS), Kaski.

Prime Minister Oli, who arrived in Pokhara today to attend the first convocation ceremony of the Academy, inaugurated the building constructed at a cost of Rs 170 million.

He also inspected the newly constructed building.

Court finds five grounds for Rabi Lamichhane’s guilt amid bail decision

The Kathmandu District Court has granted bail to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane in connection with the Kalimati-based Swarnalakshmi Cooperative Society savings fraud case.

However, the court has noted that Lamichhane cannot yet be deemed innocent in the ongoing investigation.

The single bench of Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari ordered Lamichhane’s release on Wednesday after setting bail at Rs 6 million.

SEBON introduces regulations for SMEs to issue IPOs

The Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal (SEBON) has issued the Securities Issuance and Transaction Regulations for Small and Medium Enterprises, 2025, allowing companies with a capital of up to Rs 250 million to issue ordinary shares (IPOs) to the general public.

The new regulations will come into effect starting Thursday, confirmed SEBON spokesperson Niranjay Ghimire.

He added that provisions have been made to establish a separate transaction channel for small companies issuing IPOs.

Nepali Congress issues seven-point directive to ministers to enhance govt efficiency

Amid growing concerns about the performance of the coalition government formed by the Nepali Congress and the UML on June 24, 2024, the Nepali Congress has issued a seven-point directive to its ministers in an effort to enhance governance and streamline operations.

The directives were presented during a meeting of the Parliamentary Working Committee held at the residence of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha on Thursday.

Supreme Court denies Bechan Jha’s release

The Supreme Court has denied the release of Bechan Jha, who is currently in prison for his involvement as a mediator in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

Jha had filed a writ of habeas corpus seeking his release, but the court refused to grant his petition and asked the government to provide reasons for his detention.

Jha, who is presently being kept at the Jagannath Dewal Prison, had previously approached the Patan High Court after the Kathmandu District Court remanded him for trial.

Police arrest suspect in assault on advocate Dinesh Tripathi

Police have arrested Lalit KC, 46, in connection with the assault on senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi.

The incident occurred on Wednesday outside the Kathmandu District Court after Tripathi had defended the complainant in the cooperative fraud case involving Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane.

KC was taken into custody from Babarmahal, and his remand has been extended by the court for further investigation.
