No problems with UML partnership, say Nepali Congress ministers

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged ministers from his party serving in the coalition government to prioritize good governance and economic prosperity.

The directive was issued during a meeting of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Working Committee held at Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Thursday.

“We will advance as per the agreement between the UML and the Congress, with a shared goal of achieving good governance and economic prosperity for the nation,” Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak quoted President Deuba as saying after the meeting. He also emphasized that there were no issues between the coalition partners.

During the meeting, ministers provided updates on their respective ministries, highlighting achievements, ongoing initiatives, and challenges.

“A very good, cordial discussion took place. As a result of the discussion, the two parties forming the government are functioning without any obstacles or difficulties,” said Home Minister Lekhak. “The focus now is on how to perform better in their respective ministries.”

The meeting also addressed implementing the seven-point agreement with the CPN-UML, which formed the foundation of the coalition government.

“The key takeaway from the ministers was to move forward in line with the seven-point agreement and work towards enhancing service delivery to the public, achieving economic progress, and ensuring good governance,” Home Minister Lekhak added.

The coalition government, formed through an agreement between the Nepali Congress and the UML, aims to foster cooperation and advance the nation’s economic and governance goals collaboratively.
