Govt forms high-level political dialogue committee



KATHMANDU: The government has formed a high-level political dialogue committee to engage with various political parties and stakeholders. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting at Singha Durbar on Monday.

The committee will be chaired by Law Minister Anil Sinha, with Communications Minister Jagdish Kharel and Prime Minister’s Chief Political Advisor Ajaya Bhadra Khanal as members.

Government spokesperson and Communications Minister Jagdish Kharel said the committee has been formed to conduct dialogue and discussions to create a conducive political environment and ensure smooth conduct of upcoming elections.

During the meeting, the Cabinet also appointed Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha as Vice-Chairperson and Pradana Suniti Shrestha Hada as member of the National Planning Commission.

The Cabinet decided to remove the practice of affixing postage stamps as proof of document authenticity in service delivery, unless mandated by law, Kharel added.

In addition, the meeting confirmed that Indian currency notes of Rs 200 and Rs 500, issued after November 9, 2016, can be brought into Nepal or taken to India by Nepali or Indian citizens up to a limit of Rs 25,000 per person.
