UML revises election schedule for 11th general convention



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has revised its election schedule under the party’s 11th General Convention. The Central Election Commission of the party has made public the amended election program.

According to the commission, the previously announced schedule for the election of office-bearers and members of the Central Committee, Central Disciplinary Commission and Central Accounts Commission has been revised.

As per the amended schedule, today is the final day for the distribution and registration of nomination forms. The commission has also fixed today for the publication of the preliminary list of candidates, registration of complaints, and scrutiny and decision on the complaints.

Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until 5 pm today, while the final list of candidates will be published at 6:30 pm.

The commission has stated that voting will take place on December 16 from 11 am to 5 pm. After the completion of voting, vote counting, announcement of results, issuance of certificates and oath-taking ceremonies will be conducted as per the schedule set by the election committee.

In a notice issued by Central Election Commission Secretary Dr Kanai Lama, it has been stated that the election program may be revised again if necessary.
