Police constable arrested for fatally shooting Ward Chairperson in Dhanusha



JANAKPURDHAM: A police constable has been arrested on charges of murdering Bindeshwar Yadav, the Ward Chairperson of Mithila Bihari Municipality–9 in Dhanusha.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ganesh Bam, constable Shambhu Yadav allegedly opened fire at Ward Chair Yadav following a dispute over organizing a feast. The shooting occurred on Friday.

Police said several others were injured in the incident and are currently receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpurdham.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the hospital for postmortem. Police confirmed that the shooter, constable Yadav, was serving at the Dhanusha District Police Office.

An investigation into the incident has been initiated, officials said.
