Fire incidents rise with the onset of dry season



KATHMANDU: Fire incidents have surged across the country with the beginning of the dry season. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), seven fire incidents were reported nationwide from the morning of 10th Kartik to the same day.

Significant damage to physical property has been recorded in Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Bhaktapur, Rolpa, Surkhet and Kailali.

The Authority further reported that 16 fire incidents took place across the country on 10th Kartik alone. On that day, Bara and Rupandehi each recorded two fire incidents, while other fires caused property losses in Panchthar, Jhapa, Morang, Udayapur, Dhanusha, Rautahat, Bhaktapur, Rasuwa, Kaski, Syangja, Baglung and Humla.

NDRRMA has warned the public to remain cautious, stating that most fire incidents are caused by carelessness and lack of awareness.

Meanwhile, three foreigners fell ill due to suspected rabies in Taplejung on Friday. Two Japanese nationals became ill at Khamachen while trekking to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp.

An American citizen also fell ill while returning from the base camp. In addition, three people were injured in separate animal attack incidents reported in Morang, Sindhupalchowk, Myagdi and Bardiya.
