239 new dengue cases in a week, total infections in reach 4,353



KATHMANDU: In the past week, 239 new cases of dengue have been reported across Nepal, bringing the total number of infections to 4,353, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD).

Of these, 33 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours alone.

Province-wise distribution shows the highest number of cases in Gandaki Province with 1,149 infections, followed by Bagmati Province with 936, Lumbini with 780, Koshi with 681, Sudurpaschim with 502, Karnali with 207, and Madhesh Province with 88 cases.

With the monsoon season in full swing, the Ministry of Health has urged the public to prevent dengue primarily by avoiding mosquito bites. People are advised to identify and eliminate stagnant water sources around homes and buildings where mosquitoes breed, thereby reducing the risk of infection.
