Janamat Party suspends Central Secretary BP Sah amid ongoing rape investigation

KATHMANDU: Janamat Party has suspended its Central Secretary Bisheshwar Prasad (BP) Sah from both his party secretary position and general membership pending completion of a rape investigation. The decision was announced Monday by Engineer Narayan Prasad Chaudhary, coordinator of the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee.

According to a letter issued by the committee, a case of sexual assault was filed against Sah on April 13, and the Dhanusha District Police Office issued a notice regarding the case on August 21.

“The committee has taken serious note of the incident and has asked Sah to submit a written explanation within seven days,” the statement said.

The suspension applies throughout the investigation process, and Sah will not hold any responsibilities as a party secretariat member or general member during this period. The decision has also been communicated to the central committee, provincial committees, and district coordination committees.

Sah is currently listed as a fugitive following the filing of the case. However, he has remained active on social media, posting pictures of himself participating in the ongoing Gen-Z protests over the past week.

Originally from Raghunathpur VDC (now Ward No. 12, Sabailla Municipality), Dhanusha, Sah remains at large. The Dhanusha District Police has already sent a letter to Ward No. 12 office requesting his three-generation family details, which were due within two days.
