Heavy rains flood areas in Bhairahawa

BHAIRAHAWA: Continuous heavy rainfall since last night has severely disrupted daily life in Bhairahawa and surrounding areas, leaving several neighborhoods waterlogged.

Flooding was reported in Khajhana of Ward 3, Bhaiya Tole of Ward 6, and Bank Road, where streets have been submerged, making movement difficult for both pedestrians and vehicles. Water has also entered homes and shops, causing further hardship for residents.

Bhim Hospital, one of the city’s key health facilities, has also been inundated, creating difficulties for patients and visitors in accessing services.

The newly operational Gautam Buddha International Airport has not been spared either, with floodwaters accumulating at its entrance and parking area, causing inconvenience for passengers.

Local resident Ajay Gupta, who has been affected by the flooding, blamed poor urban planning and negligence in drainage management. “The canals have been narrowed under the pretext of reconstruction, and they are not cleaned on time. That’s why this problem repeats every year,” he said.

Road transport in parts of the city has also been hampered due to the downpour and waterlogging.
