Widespread rain forecast across Nepal today



KATHMANDU: Widespread rainfall is expected across Nepal today, as the monsoon system continues to intensify under the influence of moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

According to the forecast, the weather across the country will remain generally cloudy throughout the day. There is a chance of moderate rainfall in some hilly areas and parts of the Terai.

Heavy rainfall is likely in a few areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, as well as in isolated spots within Koshi and Bagmati provinces. Moreover, very heavy rainfall is expected at one or two locations in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, conditions will remain generally cloudy nationwide. Moderate rainfall is expected in many hilly areas, including Lumbini Province, and in some parts of the Terai.

The forecast also warns of heavy rainfall in several places in Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, and in isolated locations within Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

The Division has reiterated the possibility of very heavy rainfall at one or two locations in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
