Monsoon weakens slightly across Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing a slight decline in monsoon activity, according to the Weather Forecasting Division. This weakening is attributed to the southward shift of the monsoon’s low-pressure axis, which typically fuels rainfall across the country.

According to the Division, this afternoon, mountainous regions, including areas in Sudurpaschim Province, are expected to remain mostly cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions.

Similarly, moderate rainfall is likely in some parts of the mountainous regions of Sudurpaschim, and isolated showers may occur in parts of the Terai.

Tonight, mountainous regions of Koshi Province are likely to remain generally cloudy, with partly cloudy skies elsewhere. Moderate rain is expected in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, with isolated rainfall possible in other mountainous and Terai regions.

The Division said it will continue to monitor developments as monsoon conditions evolve.
