Heavy rain likely in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini



KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently active across the country, with the monsoon trough positioned near the mean sea level in the west and slightly north of the mean sea level in the east, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department has forecast generally cloudy conditions nationwide this afternoon. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in a few places across other provinces.

One or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces may also experience heavy rainfall. Light to moderate rain and snowfall are also possible in some high hill and mountainous regions.

Conditions will remain generally cloudy across the country tonight as well. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with scattered rainfall in other regions.

Heavy rainfall is also likely in one or two places in Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

Additionally, light to moderate rain and snowfall are expected in some high hilly and mountainous areas. The Department has also warned of the possibility of strong winds in parts of the Terai region, particularly in Koshi and Madhes provinces.
