Woman killed in lightning strike in Sankhuwasabha



SANKHUWASABHA: One woman died and three others were seriously injured after being struck by lightning in Sankhuwasabha district last evening.

According to Acting Police Chief of the District Police Office, Abhishek Shrestha, 31-year-old Nirmala Tamang of Manedanda, Chainpur Municipality-8, was struck by lightning while sitting at home.

She was immediately taken to the Health Center in Chainpur but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Three others—15-year-old Prateek Tamang, 42-year-old Kalpana Tamang, and 19-year-old Rijan Tamang—were also seriously injured in the incident.

As the Primary Health Center was unable to provide the required treatment, they were referred to the District Hospital, Sankhuwasabha for further care.

According to the District Police Office, five people have died due to lightning strikes in Sankhuwasabha over the past year.
