Spring awakens Kathmandu as New Year begins

KATHMANDU: As the Nepali New Year 2082 BS begins with the arrival of Baisakh, Kathmandu Valley is embracing the spirit of spring in full bloom.

Following much-awaited rainfall, the valley has finally found relief from a long spell of dust and pollution. The clean air, carried in by refreshing winds, has cleared the skies—making way for a burst of seasonal beauty.

The streets and parks are now draped in vibrant jacaranda blossoms, coloring the capital with shades of purple. Along the Dhobi Khola corridor, night-blooming flowers have added to the charm, offering a fragrant welcome to both residents and visitors ushering in the new year.

Chait-Baishakh marks the heart of spring—a season that now seems to be painting Kathmandu with petals, color, and clarity.
