Advocate Tripathi assaulted by Rabi Lamichhane’s supporters at court premises

KATHMANDU: Advocate Dinesh Tripathi was assaulted by supporters of Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane at the Kathmandu District Court premises in Babarmahal.

The incident occurred during the ongoing hearing of the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative fraud case, in which Lamichhane is accused and currently in custody.

The supporters, reportedly upset with Tripathi’s arguments against Lamichhane, attacked him and raised offensive slogans outside the court.

“I was representing the cooperative victims in court. After my argument, I was assaulted right at the court premises, and my bag was also snatched,” Tripathi said while speaking to reporters.

The assault happened as Tripathi was leaving the courtroom following his argument. Witnesses also reported unruly behavior and derogatory slogans by Lamichhane’s supporters after the attack.

The case is being heard by Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari, with arguments underway to determine Lamichhane’s detention.

Previously, after the court ordered Lamichhane’s detention, his supporters had protested with provocative slogans against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
