Ordinances aim to revitalize economy, says PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has highlighted the importance of recently introduced ordinances aimed at strengthening the economy and revitalizing industries.

Speaking at a program organized by industrialists in Baluwatar on Wednesday, the Prime Minister called on the private sector to move forward with enthusiasm, assuring that the ordinances were designed to make the economy dynamic and resilient.

Addressing rumors of political instability due to disagreements between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, Oli dismissed them as baseless. He stated that his government is functioning with thoughtful advice and remains committed to driving economic growth.

Oli also criticized those who engage in opposition for the sake of protest, urging vigilance against such actions. He reiterated the government’s dedication to policy reforms, announcing that an ordinance addressing land-related challenges would be issued soon.

The forthcoming measure aims to resolve issues stemming from inconsistent land use policies, which have previously disrupted investments and stability in the housing sector.

“The government and the private sector must work in partnership to achieve common goals,” Oli said, stressing the need for collaborative efforts to reach national aspirations.

He also highlighted the importance of removing land restrictions to strengthen agriculture, highlighting plans to implement necessary policy changes.

During the program, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal expressed optimism about the ordinances, stating they would significantly aid in economic recovery following the Covid pandemic.

Dhakal urged the government to expedite the implementation of regulations and procedures for the ordinances to ensure their effectiveness.

The program also saw participation from Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Nepal Chamber of Commerce President Kamlesh Agrawal, and FNCCI President Bhagirath Sapkota, who collectively praised the government’s initiatives to foster a business-friendly environment.
