Four parliament committees meeting to address key agendas

KATHMANDU: Four committees under the Federal Parliament are set to meet today at Singha Durbar to discuss various significant agendas. The meetings, scheduled between 11 am and 1 pm, will focus on legislative, governance, and developmental matters.

The Finance Committee is set to deliberate on the Customs Bill which aims to amend and unify the existing customs law. The committee plans to engage stakeholders in discussions to refine the bill further.

Meanwhile, the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee will review reports from subcommittees that conducted on-site monitoring of police detention centers in Sudurpaschim, Madhesh, and Lumbini provinces.

These subcommittees also organized interaction programs addressing challenges in implementing laws enacted by the Federal Parliament.

The Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee will present and analyze the “Status Study and Evaluation Report on the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in Nepal.”

The report aims to assess progress and identify areas requiring attention to meet the country’s sustainable development targets.

Lastly, the Legislative Management Committee will engage in a detailed, clause-wise discussion of the Tilganga Netra University Bill.

This discussion is part of the legislative process to establish the proposed university focused on eye care and education.
