KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast light rain and snowfall in some parts of the country due to the partial influence of a western low-pressure system currently affecting the country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the hilly regions of Nepal are experiencing partial cloud cover, while the rest of the country has mostly clear skies. Some areas in the Terai region are shrouded in fog and mist.

During the day, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy to clear across the country. However, tonight, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are likely to see partial to general cloud cover, while the remaining regions will experience partial cloudiness.

Light rain is forecast in a few locations in Sudurpaschim Province, while light snowfall is expected in parts of the high hills and mountainous regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Additionally, isolated high-altitude areas in other provinces may also experience light snowfall.

The department has advised the public to exercise caution due to the potential impact of fog and mist in the Terai regions, which could disrupt daily life, transportation, tourism, and air travel.
