RHODE ISLAND: Two people have died and nine others were injured in a shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island, United States.
The injured are reportedly in stable condition at the hospital, though Providence Mayor Brett Smiley cautioned that the casualty count could still rise.
Authorities say the suspect, described as a male dressed entirely in black, remains at large after fleeing on foot, BBC reported.
One individual was briefly taken into custody but released after police confirmed they were not involved in the incident.
A shelter-in-place order remains active for the greater Brown University area. President Donald Trump confirmed that he has been briefed on the shooting, which occurred at 4:05 p.m. local time (21:05 GMT) on Saturday.
