Shankar Pokharel questions Kulman Ghising’s decision to stay in office after announcing election bid

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has questioned the appropriateness of Energy Minister Kulman Ghising remaining in office after announcing his intention to contest the upcoming elections.

Pokharel said that Prime Minister Sushila Karki formed a non-party election government, yet a minister from the same government has declared his plan to run in the polls. He argued that such a move contradicts the Prime Minister’s stated commitment to neutrality.

He further remarked that it is ethically improper for someone who has already announced an election bid to continue holding a ministerial position. Pokharel added that if Ghising’s decision does not align with the Prime Minister’s commitments, he should be relieved of his duties immediately.
