Five writ petitions filed at Supreme Court against House dissolution

KATHMANDU: Five writ petitions have been filed at the Supreme Court challenging the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

The petitions, including one by Yubaraj Saphal from Sindhuli, were filed on Tuesday.

The dissolution came after the Gen-Z movement of early September, when President Ram Chandra Paudel dissolved the House and announced fresh elections for March5  on the recommendation of interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

The petitioners have argued that Karki’s appointment as interim prime minister was unconstitutional and have demanded that her appointment be annulled. The Supreme Court administration has said it is currently reviewing the petitions.
