Newly appointed Prime Minister Karki to assume office today

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki is set to officially assume office today.

Karki, who was appointed as the head of the interim government late Friday night, will take charge at 11 AM at the new office of the Home Ministry located in Singha Durbar.

Items salvaged from the old Prime Minister’s Office and Council of Ministers—damaged in a recent fire—have been transferred and repurposed for use in her new office.

Senior government officials have been summoned this morning to welcome Prime Minister Karki. Sources say Karki is likely to announce a small cabinet by this evening.
