KATHMANDU: The monsoon has become active again across Nepal, with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology forecasting heavy rainfall in several provinces today.
According to the Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The monsoon’s low-pressure system is currently positioned near the Sardar region, towards India, which is influencing weather conditions in Nepal.
As a result, the hilly regions of the country, along with Madhesh and Lumbini provinces, are experiencing generally cloudy skies, while other regions are seeing partial cloud cover.
The Department forecasts generally cloudy conditions across the country this afternoon, with moderate rainfall likely in some hilly areas and isolated places in the Terai. One or two locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim may experience heavy rainfall.
Cloudy weather is also expected to persist into the night. Moderate rainfall is likely in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while light to moderate rain may occur in other areas. One or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces may also see heavy rainfall overnight.
The Department has urged the public to take necessary precautions due to the risk of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
As of the last three hours, heavy rain has already been recorded in parts of Bardiya and Jhapa districts, with 49.8 mm in Rambhapur (Bardiya) and 108.2 mm in Kechana (Jhapa).
