Schools in Kathmandu set to resume classes from Monday

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has instructed teachers and school management to return to schools from Sunday to prepare for the resumption of academic activities.

According to Keshav Gyawali, Acting Head of KMC’s Education Department, the directive comes following school closures due to recent nationwide unrest. Schools are expected to assess their readiness and ensure a safe environment for students.

In a public notice, KMC has asked schools to inspect for any infrastructure damage, contact parents to assess students’ situations, and ensure children are accompanied by guardians until conditions normalize.

Physical classes are set to resume from Monday (September 15). Alongside regular lessons, schools are encouraged to provide psychosocial counseling to help students transition back to classroom learning.

For students unable to travel with guardians, KMC has recommended offering online classes to ensure continued access to education.
