KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has dismissed writ petitions filed by former All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) president Ganesh Thapa and his son, Gaurav Thapa, against the football governing body.
Ganesh Thapa had filed a petition on May 2, claiming contempt of court by ANFA and its current president, Pankaj Bikram Nembang. He also challenged the legitimacy of ANFA’s general assembly and demanded his right to participate.
Similarly, Gaurav Thapa filed petitions on May 6 regarding his participation in the general assembly, and again on May 16, accusing ANFA and President Nembang of contempt of court.
The dispute stems from ANFA’s general assembly held on May 8 in Dhulikhel, Kavre. At the event, Ganesh Thapa argued that his 10-year FIFA suspension had expired and he should be allowed entry. However, ANFA denied both him and his son access, citing procedural requirements.
The court dismissed Ganesh Thapa’s case on June 18 and rejected Gaurav Thapa’s petition on Wednesday, citing insufficient grounds.
Earlier, writ petitions filed by Ramesh Rayamajhi on June 2 and by Rabin Chand against ANFA had also been dismissed.
