Cloudy and rainy weather expected across Nepal today

KATHMANDU: The weather remains cloudy and rainy across various parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, conditions are expected to remain cloudy and wet in many areas throughout the afternoon and night today (Thursday).

Meteorologists have indicated that the monsoon’s low-pressure trough is currently situated around the western Tarai and slightly south of the eastern Tarai. As a result, monsoon activity is expected to be more intense in the western regions compared to the east.

This afternoon, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces — including their hilly regions — are expected to be mostly cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy skies.

Moderate rainfall is likely in several hilly areas, especially in the hills and Tarai regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Scattered rain is also expected in parts of the Tarai, including Madhes Province. There is also a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Sudurpaschim, and Karnali provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly regions and partly cloudy elsewhere. Moderate rain is possible at a few locations in the hills and Tarai of Gandaki, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, and at some places in the hills and Tarai of Madhes Province.
