SC orders authorities to present Rabindra Mishra in court

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order in response to a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of Rabindra Mishra, asking authorities to explain the legal grounds for his detention and to produce him in person before the court.

The order was issued by a single bench of Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel. The petition, filed on Tuesday by Mishra’s wife, Sarika Karki, calls for his immediate release and questions the legitimacy of his continued custody.

The court has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs and 12 other parties named in the case to justify Mishra’s detention and ensure his physical appearance in the next hearing.
