Woman dies in gas leak fire in Makhantol



KATHMANDU: A woman has died in a fire triggered by a gas leak in Makhantol, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-24.

The blaze broke out in the four-story residence of Dayaram Shrestha.

According to Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed.

“The fire occurred due to a gas leak. The body of the deceased has been recovered, but identification is pending,” he said. Efforts are still underway to fully extinguish the fire.

The adjacent five-story house belonging to Rukesh Shrestha has also caught fire as the flames spread, causing further damage.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and assess the extent of the damage.
