KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, has said that the government is resolved in developing the information-technology sector as the key area for investment.
Speaking at an interaction on ‘Information Technology Based Entrepreneurship for Nepal: A New Path for Economic Prosperity’ organised by the CPN-UML, Department of Science and Technology here today, he said the government was actively working to maintain good governance in the country through information technology.
He stated that Nepal would be graduated to a developing country status by 2026, and it was necessary to increase investment in information technology for that as well.
Minister Bhandari added that process has been moved ahead by which a company can be established through automation system.
“Today, we have started work enabling the registration of the company from home. We have made arrangements whereby the industry can also be registered automatically as soon as the company office is registered,” he said.
On the occasion, Minister Bhandari said that the government was giving a sense of good governance in the service delivery sector.
Stating that capital and technology have been given special importance, he said that today’s development would not be possible if technology could not be assimilated.
The Industry Minister shared on the occasion that preparations were underway to bring a policy to promote industry and entrepreneurship through information technology.
