Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Rana leaves for Oman



KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana has left for Oman today. Minister Rana left for Oman leading a four-member Nepali delegation to the Eighth Indian Ocean Conference to be organized in the Omani capital of Muscat.

The Conference is taking place from today until February 20. Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and Ministry officials bid her farewell at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Foreign Minister Rana is attending the Conference at the invitation of Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman.

She will represent Nepal in the Conference with the theme of ‘Voyage to New Horizons of Maritime Partnership’.

Minister Rana will address a Conference session on ‘Amplifying the Voice of Global South’.

During her visit, Minister Rana will hold bilateral meetings with the Omani Foreign Minister and Minister of Energy and Minerals and the representatives of the ministries concerned.

There is a schedule for signing on some Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on various areas of mutual cooperation.

The Foreign Affairs Minister is also scheduled to hold a virtual meeting in Muscat with the Nepali ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions based in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-affiliated nations.

She will return home on February 20.
