KATHMANDU: Madhav Kumar Nepal, chair of the CPN (Unified Socialist), expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s performance, stating that even with a self-proclaimed communist party in power, the public remains unsatisfied.

Speaking at an event marking Piskar Memorial Day on Tuesday, Nepal said, “Those who claim to be from a communist party are in charge, but the people are still discontent. Simply being a communist is not enough.”

He criticized certain individuals within the communist bloc for functioning like non-communists and emphasized the need for those engaging in communist politics to uphold its values of sacrifice, dedication, and struggle.

The Piskar Memorial Day commemorates the sacrifices of Bir Bahadur Thami and Ile Thami, who were killed during a police crackdown on January 15, 1984. Their deaths occurred amidst a movement led by the then UML against the Panchayat regime.
