National beach volleyball tournament kicks off in Sukute

KATHMANDU: The seventh Women’s and eighth Men’s National Beach Volleyball Tournament began today in Sukute, Sindhupalchowk.

The event was inaugurated by Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who expressed optimism that the tournament would contribute significantly to promoting tourism in the Sukute region.

Addressing the gathering, Dahal highlighted the potential of sports like volleyball, cricket, and football in enhancing Nepal’s global image and pledged his support for the overall development of the sports sector.

Other notable figures present at the ceremony included House of Representatives member Madhav Sapkota, Provincial Assembly member Saral Sahayatri Poudel, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality Chair Tapindra Prasad Timalsina, and Sindh Sukute Tourism Entrepreneurs Association Chair Mahendra Singh Thapa.

They highlighted how the tournament could serve as a catalyst for boosting tourism in both Sukute and the broader Sindhupalchowk region.

The competition has attracted 36 teams, including six provincial and three departmental squads.

Organizers announced that the event, running until January 18, aims to foster regional tourism and elevate Nepal’s reputation as a destination for adventure sports.
