Lumbini Lions win NPL-2 title

KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions defeated Sudurpaschim Royals in the final of Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2, completing a remarkable comeback after a shaky start to the season.

Lumbini had lost three of their first four league matches, facing early pressure. However, they bounced back, winning six consecutive matches, including the final, to lift the trophy.

Chasing a modest target of 86 runs at Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground after losing the toss, Lumbini reached the total in just 8.6 overs, losing four wickets, securing a comfortable victory.

Opener Dinesh Adhikari starred with explosive batting, scoring 42 runs off just 13 balls, including one four and five sixes. Captain Rohit Paudel added 16 runs, while D’Arcy Short contributed 14. Sandeep Jora was dismissed for a duck, and Dilip Nath remained unbeaten on 1.

Sudurpaschim, despite setting a low target, struggled with their bowling, allowing Lumbini to complete a dominant chase. The runner-up finished second for the second consecutive season.
