Cold intensifies as Kathmandu records 5.5°C at 5:45 AM



KATHMANDU: Cold conditions have continued to intensify across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, over the past few days.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley was recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am on Saturday. This marks a drop compared to Friday morning, when the temperature stood at 6.0 degrees Celsius at the same time.

However, the officially recorded minimum temperature for Friday was 5.4 degrees Celsius, measured at 8:45 am. The Division noted that Saturday’s official minimum temperature will also be determined at 8:45 am, and the temperature is likely to fall further by then.

The Division measures both minimum and maximum temperatures daily at various stations across the country, including Kathmandu. The minimum temperature represents the lowest temperature recorded during the day, while the maximum reflects the highest.

According to meteorologists, minimum temperatures are officially recorded at 8:45 am, while maximum temperatures are measured at 5:45 pm. With clear skies and no significant weather systems currently active, temperatures are expected to continue dropping during the early morning and night hours.

Residents, especially children, the elderly, and those in high-altitude areas, are advised to take precautions against the increasing cold.
